Polished Malachite - Exceptional Handmade Gallets / Freeforms
Malachite is a beautiful green copper carbonate hydroxide mineral with a chemical composition of Cu2(CO3)(OH)2. It was one of the first ores used to produce copper metal.
Our Malachite is sourced from the Congo which extensively mines the material for its copper content, thus getting specimen grade material such as this is very difficult. Fun fact: Pliny the Elder in 79 CE used the ancient term Molochitus but by 1661 the revised spelling was widely adopted as Malachite.
These beautiful hand-selected and individually polished Malachite specimens are exclusively available from Amelia's Crystal Palace. Whilst all reasonably small they have been sorted into Small, Medium and Large.
Available in Small (23mm), medium (35mm) or Large (40mm+) stones.
